ArchiMed completed its investment in Medistream Citieffe in July 2014. Medistream is a Trauma Orthopaedics player based in Lausanne (Switzerland): it develops, manufactures and sells innovative and patented products such as intramedullary nails for trochanter fractures or sophisticated reconstruction-focused external fixation devices.
Medistream has a long history that started in Bologna (Italy), one of the main European Orthopaedics center, based on collaboration with world-famous Rizzoli Institute and leveraging local engineering skills. A quality and innovation culture has progressively been created by the founders. Development strongly accelerated in 2011 when a new Management team was hired from global Trauma leaders (Synthes, Orthofix) and internationalization really started. Since then, product range was almost completely renewed, and broadened to additional indications.
Today, Medistream revenues are balanced between European and non-European sales (mainly Northern America). Management team and Board are very international, as well as the network of Key Opinion Leaders. On top of Swiss headquarters, footprint includes US and Mexico subsidiaries, with strong presence in countries such as Germany, Brazil and Russia.
ArchiMed supported the incumbent management team, with the support of company founders, in a buyout of the group which was financed 100% through equity in order to allow the company to continue with its organic growth strategy, principally the development of new products and the opening of new countries (including local registrations).
